A full contingent will line up in the Group 2 $500,000 2013 Perth Cup (2400m) which will take place at Ascot as part of Perth’s Summer Racing Carnival on Tuesday.
Heading the strong field of 16 horses, and four emergencies, is classy galloper Mr Moet who has been one of the stars of the carnival so far.
The five-year-old will have to break a weight-carrying record after being assigned 59kg but nobody can deny his form.
He won the Group 1 Railway Stakes first-up before finishing second in the Kingston Town Classic and most recently running down his stablemate Chester Road to claim the CB Cox Stakes.
But Chester Road is due to start as favourite on Tuesday, with the Adam Durrant-trained gelding meeting Mr Moet five kilograms better off after being asked to carry just 54kg.
Taking on the top pair are a number of quality contenders including local mare Pop Culture.
The daughter of Blackfriars has been in sensational form this summer, winning the Listed Ascot Gold Cup in November before a fourth-place Kingston Town Classic finish was backed up with victory in the WA St Leger.
Playing God and God Has Spoken have been two of Perth’s better performed gallopers in recent years but the stablemates will both have to show a form turnaround if they are to get near the winner’s stall this weekend.
Of the travelling contenders, Sydney gelding Cantonese appears to be the best hope after dominating the Listed Christmas Cup at Rosehill by six lengths earlier this month.
