Mr Moet may continue on to the Group 2 Perth Cup at Ascot racecourse on December 31, 2012, after his Railway Stakes win last weekend.
The five-year-old won the Group 1 Railway Stakes by almost a length in front of local hero Luckygray over 1,600 metres on Saturday.
Trainer Adam Durrant confirmed that the 2012 Perth Cup had been on the agenda for Mr Moet prior to his 2012 Railway Stakes win, however, did not comment on whether the winning result would affect that plan.
“The Perth cup was on the cards for him if this didn’t work out (in the Railway Stakes) but I knew we had the horse to do it,” Durrant said after the race.
Mr Moet has won 11 of his 24 race starts and has earned more than $920,000 in prize money during his impressive horse racing career.
While the Railway Stakes was the Mosayter gelding’s first Group 1 win, he also has the Group 3 Stockland Stakes against his name.
The talented galloper will not be out of his depth should he contest the 2,400 metre Perth Cup, having won over 2,200 metres on three occasions.
This year’s Perth Cup will be help on New Years Eve after last season’s race was moved to New Years Day.
As a result, there will be two 2012 Perth Cups.
