Peter Moody is considering starting Elusive King in the Group 2 Perth Cup at Ascot Racecourse on December 31, 2011.
The four-year-old gelding won the Comic Court Handicap on a protest at Flemington last Saturday.
Despite initially losing by a short head, stewards quickly ruled that the heavy interference caused by original winner The Big Steal was enough to award Elusive King the win.
Moody is hopeful that Elusive King will succeed in the 2011 Perth Cup on New Years Eve.
“We’re still looking at the Perth Cup for him,” Moody said.
“We just want to evaluate the form from the Cox Stakes and then decide whether to go or not.”
Elusive King has now won his past two consecutive starts and will be lining up against Group competition for the first time should he make an appearance in the 2011 Perth Cup.
The Elusive Quality gelding has won three of his 14 career starts and has earned more than $180,000 in prize money.
After his latest defeat against Elusive King, The Big Steal will not be joining him at Ascot for the Perth Cup 2011.
The Big Steal will instead go to Tasmania for the Hobart and Launceston Cups early next year in February.
“He’s been pretty honest and consistent so far and we are thinking we’d like to take him over to Tassie for the Cups over there,” he said.
“But we didn’t want to make any concrete plans until we saw how he came up.
“You’d like to have a stable full of horses like him, he’s been in the placings in 11 of his 21 starts.”
